The Full Story

Yemani V was born of the tide — and crowned in gold.

She is a twenty-year-old rapper, singer, and songwriter of Black and Latina heritage, with roots that stretch across three shores: the rhythm of Jamaica, the fire of Latin America, and the Yoruba spiritual lineage her family carried across oceans. Her name is a prayer to Yemaya, the Yoruba goddess of the ocean — the mother of waters, the keeper of tides — and she carries it like an inheritance she intends to honor in every bar she writes.

Her music lives where languages meet. She raps in English, sings in Spanish, and weaves Patois and Yoruba through her hooks — not as decoration, but as testimony. Three tongues, one voice, zero permission asked. Her flow is smooth and crystal-clear, built for listeners who want to catch every word, then built again in the chorus for everyone who just wants to feel it.

Her debut album, Yemaya's Gold — Album Volume 1, is nineteen tracks of a life told without a filter: the origin story of a girl who grew up between two kitchens and two anthems ("Born of the Tide", "Lengua De Oro"); love letters to the women who raised her ("Crown in a Kitchen", "Single-Mom Roll Call"); midnight honesty about anxiety and survival ("Block Out the 3 AM"); unapologetic celebration of her body, her height, and her worth ("Thick, Tall, and Paid", "Body Without Apology"); and a hard-edged run of records where the gloves come off entirely ("Goddess Tax", "Gully Queen", "Bad Gyal Commandment"). The album closes on an island — steel drums, dembow, and dancehall fire — because that's where the story always comes home.
